Here in the USA tho July 14th is commonly referred to as Bastille Day. Silly Americans. I’m also giving homage today to what sewists outside of Europe refer to as ‘French seams’. Do you know that french seams are called “Coutures anglaises” (english seams) in France ? I love to use this seam finish whenever I can. It makes for a lovely look inside my sewing projects and keeps the seams from fraying. Especially if you can’t serge them. Like sewing delicate fabrics or tiny stitching. I even use it when sewing my lightweight denim aprons. If you’ve never sewn ‘french seams’ before, here’s a good tute on the method from Linda Lee at Craftsy.
Tip~ don’t skip the pressing, it really makes a difference.
Bonne Couture & Happy Sewing ~cheers!
Viva la France!
