Why I Don’t Sew OilCloth

Dear Clients , Thank you for your inquiries and requests, albeit I do not sew with today’s modern oilcloth textile. It is a misnomer and not the “traditional” oilcloth fabric . Today’s fabrics are coated with chemical resin, plastics or PVC ( poly vinyl chloride) and not linseed oil. This in my opinion is not a good choice textile use for ‘food’ storage.  such as ‘snack/sandwich bags or lunch pails’.

oilcloth info facts

I do use natural fabrics that are machine washable, such as cotton or linen. I’ve found these fabrics to have a much longer useable shelf-life also. I do hope this information is helpful to understand my reluctance to sew with today’s “oilcloth”.

Cheers

Fellow sewist~do you use or sew with modern oilcloth?
