Halloween is just two days away. The holidays are fast approaching. Besides the hunt for that perfect gift and the whirl of festivities to begin, we all know this is also the start of what is lovingly referred to as ugly sweater season. Some folks love this season, I know I do. It gives me the chance (excuse) to go thrifting (which I adore) and discover fabulous treasures such as this retro Pierre Cardin lambswool/angora sweater made in the USA. Well kinda. The label says “Made in Northern Marianas Islands,USA”. Which is well…not really USA, it’s a commonwealth/territory of the US. But I’ll forgo the geo/history lesson for later.
The retro Pierre Cardin sweater is in great condition and oh so soft. Even more so after I did a bit of felting of it with hot water in the wash (Makes the fibers tighten). I really love the fiber, teal/rust colours and the bit of argyle style on the sleeves. I’ll not be wearing this one of course as is. This particular sweater will be going into my upcycle project stash. It has a destiny with my scissors and a new and more stylish life ahead. Tho, I’ve not decided just yet what new life the sweater will have.
What upcycle new creation should I make with this lovely sweater?
